Family Center Highlights & Reminders:
  • Have you completed a Registration Form yet this year? If you have not - please take a moment to complete the attached form (copies also available in the check-in cart) and return it to the Family Center. We use this information to keep our contact information up to date - and more importantly to prove we are serving families for our grant funding. There will be a current caregiver list at the check-in cart - please take a moment to confirm you have been recorded! Thanks very much for your help!
  • District 2 Fire Station has agreed to host a Fire Safety visit the first week of June for Family Center Families - which will include washing a fire engine! More information to come!
  • Have a talent you could share? Favorite story or craft, play music, or another interesting skill? We are looking for volunteers to host an activity during playgroup one morning this spring - have an idea? Please contact Kristin or Kelly at shfckids@yahoo.com.
  • Thank you Associated Flooring of South Hadley! They donated 12 carpet mats for us to use at Closing Circle - just like the big kids at preschool!
  • New Playground Fun at Buttery Brook Park: The next time you bring your family to Buttery Brook Park (on Route 33 near Chicopee), you'll find new playground equipment to explore. In addition to a new play structure for small kids, your little adventurers can fly on a 2-seater airplane and a bang on a drum set. The highlight is a new, huge sandbox area - it's two working ride-on diggers make it the coolest sandbox around! Hours of fun for kids who like sand! The park officially opens (i.e. working bathrooms and ongoing maintenance) on April 1st. Until then, you can always stop in the outer parking area by the gate and walk through to check out what's new and enjoy the park. The goats, sheep and chickens will welcome you as you walk in. (Please carry in/carry out trash until April to keep the park clean - thanks!) By the way, when you go, you'll see that the skate park is being moved over a bit so the area behind and above the playground will become a large grassy area that gives parents a great view of the fenced-in play area. See you at the park!

  • *Next Monday, April 12th at 10am those interested in helping with the Mom2Mom Sale will be gathering to get organized.  All are welcome!  This is a fun low key event that doesn’t take a lot of time – we need your help… hanging flyers, helping to set up the day of the event, supporting the bake sale, etc.  We’ll chat with the wee ones play….

  • ANNUAL CONCERT OF THE YOUNG CHILD, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10am in St. Patrick's Church Hall in South Hadley.  We are thrilled to welcome musician Roger Tincknell to South Hadley as we celebrate the Week of the Young Child!  Roger is a two-time Parents' Choice Award-winning recording artist with numerous CDs for children and adults.  His albums include multicultural, environmental and family songs. Roger's repertoire includes original and contemporary material, as well as traditional folk styles.  All young children and their caregivers welcome - invite a friend!  Free 45 minute concert.  Donations welcome.
