Our Mission

The mission of the South Hadley Family Center is to provide a safe, nurturing, fun and welcoming learning environment for children under 6 and their caregivers. We fulfill this mission through weekly playgroups as well as by sponsoring speakers, discussion groups, social events and facilitating sharing of resources.


Directions/Location

The Family Center is located in the lower level of the All Saints Episcopal Church at 7 Woodbridge Street. The church is located across Rt. 116 from the post office in South Hadley center. Parking is available in the lot behind the church. The Center entrance is off the parking lot on the lower level of the church building. The Center is located to the right at the end of the hall as you enter the building.


Hours

The Family Center is open Tuesday - Friday between 9:30am - 11:30am from September - June.

Drop-In Playgroups

The South Hadley Family Center offers drop-in playgroups 4 mornings a week for parents, caregivers and children under 6. For children, the playgroups offer the opportunity to learn and master social skills during free play with peers and caregivers, and to participate in craft activities, snack andcircle time.. For parents and caregivers, Family Center playgroups provide an educational and fun environment for the children in their care as well as a source of information, resources and mutual support. Parents and caregivers value their contact with other adults who understand what it’s like to spend many hours each week with young children.


Educational Resources

Through speakers, discussion groups and a free lending library, the South Hadley Family Center offers a wide range of resources for families and caregivers. Topics include issues related to parenting,, child behavior, education, and wellness.


Social Activities

Fun should be part of every family’s life! The Family Center staff and volunteers organize a variety of social events each year, for parents, families and caregivers. From “parents’ nights out” to seasonal celebrations and kid-oriented events, the Family Center’s social events encourage a strong sense of community and fun for adults and children


We Need Your Help!

The South Hadley Family Center is a parent-directed, volunteer organization. With the ideas and enthusiasm of parents and caregivers, the Family Center is able to provide a wide range of fun, educational activities and services for our community. We need your help! There are many ways in which you can contribute to the Family Center: Project work: helping to plan events, organize activities,or do publicity and outreach Donating skills, time, supplies or equipment Serving on the Parent Advisory Board


Family Center Council
Council meetings are held once a month. Please call or inquire in person about the next meeting. Meetings are open to all. We would love to add your name to our member list!


Funding
Donations and fund raising events help to fund the activities of the Center. The South Hadley Family Center also receives funding from the Hampshire County Family Network and the South Hadley Community Partnership for Children, both programs of Hampshire Educational Collaborative with funding from the MA Department of Early Education and Care.
