Early Childhood Community Leadership Award

This award recognizes with gratitude an individual's contributions and leadership in support of families with young children in our community.

Jeanne Chenier

Jeanne Chenier has made a difference in the lives of thousands of young children and their families in South Hadley. Mrs. Chenier was a long time private preschool teacher and then Director at South Hadley Childcare - which is now named Gorse Children's Center. She left there to start a state-funded family center that was located at Plains Elementary School. This was the beginning of the South Hadley Family Center. She left that position to become a preschool teacher at Plains, but has continued to support both the South Hadley Family Center and young families in South Hadley.
